 Dear Farm Members,

As California shelters in place, we’re all struggling to contend with the harsh realities of a flawed system. Folks are out of work, kids are home from school, many small businesses are closed indefinitely - so much is at stake for our community and country right now.  In this moment, it’s more important than ever that we hold each other up, protect those who are most vulnerable, and stay buoyant in the face of adversity. We are powerful and resilient, and we’ve got this.

Many of us on the farm crew made the move to self-isolate long before the official state mandate went into effect (we want to stay well!). It’s been a little lonely, and I’ve spent most of my down time cooking at home, thinking about how powerful food can be. So often as humans, we’re united by the simple act of sharing a meal, the food we eat resting at the hub of an immense wheel. Community is born around the dinner table - and that’s one of the things that we (and I imagine many of you) love most about our CSA. This week, we’d love to hear from all of you about what you’ve been cooking with the vegetables in your boxes. Recipes, inspiration, memorable meal experiences, and beyond - tell us all about it!

We’re coming up on more stormy days at the farm, which we’ll spend seeding away inside the greenhouse and grafting our second round of tomatoes. If you’re feeling down this week, just remember that tomato season gets closer with every passing day. Stay healthy out there everybody!
