CSA Newsletter Week 17 - COVID-19 Farm Updates

MOUNTAIN BOUNTY FARM NEWS

Winter 2019-20, Week 17 of 25

Dear Farm Members,

It seems pertinent to offer an update on how things at the farm have been progressing in the midst of so much chaos.

Our crew has been doing double-time on hand washing and cleanliness -- above and beyond. Providing food that is clean and safe is not new to us, and is something we take very seriously. If anything, we’re feeling more focused than ever on our impact as a farm, and the huge responsibility you’ve all entrusted to us in providing your food. If you have any questions or concerns about our practices, please reach out to us.

We know many folks are avoiding grocery stores and crowded spaces, and hope that a CSA box offers you some degree of respite and flexibility. We aim to be a reliable source of produce, no matter what. We will continue to plant and grow food for our community. We believe that our CSA model which connects local farmers directly with our local community is now more relevant than ever. We know that some of our drop sites may have to close and we're committed to finding temporary alternatives, so we can continue delivering your food through these uncertain times.

I’m happy to report that we’re all in good health, and have been busily plugging away preparing fields for planting and getting our initial rounds of transplants into the ground. Last Thursday, our tiny winter crew planted a whopping 40  250’ beds of Walla Walla Sweet onions and potatoes. French fries and onion rings are officially in our future! We’ll spend the next week enjoying all the much needed water this current storm has to offer, with warm weather and longer days just beyond the horizon.

Drop Site Protocols during COVID-19 Outbreak:

1. The delivery list is an integral part of our operation. We ask that you bring your own pen to the drop site and initial for your order. As always, please only take what has been delivered for you.

2. We ask that you only touch the box/bag/bouquet that are a part of your order.

3. In order to limit the time spent at each site, we are asking that you take your box home instead of spending time to unload your shares into reusable bags at the site.

3. If you are sick, please send a friend to pick up for you. If you cannot leave home, or need help with pickup, please let us know and we will endeavor to find a way to get you your box.

4.  All produce has been packed by farm employees who are in good health and following our food safety policies.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
